The Last Cast

With the Musky season coming to a close and the snow coming it also marks the end of the semester. This also means the end of blogging and this business created for Social Media Class.

Untold Fishing Adventures would like to thank all of you who followed, liked, read and shared posts and pictures that were presented. It has been an absolute pleasure to have nice feedback on something that was so new to me.

This business that was created had many platforms that had to be used. They ranged from Podcasts, commercials and just pictures that say a lot. All being new to me other than Facebook, I found that only a certain few would really reach the audience with the tenacity that I would be looking for in relation to this business.

For this type of business I truly believe that Facebook, Twitter, and a Podcast maybe once per week would be the most effective. Fishing tactics change with the weather and most fisherman like the up to date information that they can get. This is where I think Facebook and Twitter are fantastic for current information that can be briefly stated. Along with the comments from followers that may ask for additional information that you would be able to answer.

This in addition to the Podcast. I think a once a week recap of the fishing week on what worked and what didn't, would be appreciated by the fishing public. Us fisherman are all about information and what we could do different in order to catch more fish.

So with that I say, keep on casting, take someone new, don't give up and Set The Hook!

We Got Apps!

Untold Fishing Adventures is pleased to announce that we will be releasing a new App for the 2016 fishing season. The Untold Lure App will be available for not only cell phones but also available for tablets. What is it you say?

This fantastic App will help all of us fisherman who are not on the water every day in choosing the correct lure to throw for best success. It will allow the fisherman to input the lake that they are going to fish and the top lure will come up as a result. It will also tell you how to retrieve it as well. The Untold Lure App will also allow you to add in the weather, temperature and current wind direction, as this may also determine the suggested lure.

This App is not limited to just one lake but to all the lakes in Wisconsin and Minnesota. If by chance you decide to go fishing for something different than muskies, it will also tell you what to use for other species.

What if you don't have a specific lure? Well this App will also help you in that area by telling you the closest location to the lake to buy that lure.

This App will definitely help those fishermen who like to jump from lake to lake in search of the big one. Why waste your valuable time throwing something that will not attract fish when all you need is the Untold Lure App and it will choose it for you.

App Icon
One final feature of this App will allow you to enter in your fish and lure that it was caught on. You will then be able to share it with others that also have the App or catalog it in a file for later reference.

This App will be available for purchase at a one time fee of $1.99 at download. Its not about the money folks its all about the information to help us catch fish. Good luck everyone and hope to see everyone connected and sharing in 2016.

Put the Razor Down

Its no Shave November folks!  Untold Fishing Adventures and our loyal fans are not shaving this month to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancer. It is also to support men's health and our yearly visits that we all procrastinate in. Unfortunately, we are susceptible to getting cancer and it may go unnoticed unless we have the appropriate procedures to detect the cancer early.

Source
There are many of us manly fisherman out there that don't go or refuse to go to doctors for checkups. It is important not only for us, but those that are around us to know that we care about ourselves. It is also important to all our fishing buddies that don't want to lose a fishing partner. We can almost all think of someone that has had prostate or testicular cancer in our fishing circle. Even if they are the most healthiest, active and die hard guys you know, they to may have prostate cancer and not know it. This awareness is something that we need to urge onto others to preserve the knowledge and camaraderie of our sport. Not to mention those who would miss us if we were gone.

Fortunately for us, prostate and testicular cancer can be detected early and treated with success. Untold Fishing Adventures urge all you wives, mothers, and kids to have your fishermen visit their doctor this month. Simple tests done will ensure that we are good to go for next years fishing season.

Source
We hope that all of you decide to put the razors down in honor of those who have lost hair from cancer treatments. And for all of those men that are fishing in the sky that we may have lost to cancer.

My top Fall Lures

Fall musky fishing can be very rewarding but for sure is the most difficult. Not only are you fishing a tough species but you have to be prepared for all the elements of your surroundings. Great looking days that look promising, only turn out to be a bust when the North winds decide to show up. Your gear is pushed to the limits as well as your physical well being. Is it worth it? Well for those of us who have had success in a trophy fish, of course it is.

When fishing in the fall my tactics and lure choices change. All my top water baits are put away and the jerkbaits, gliders, and suicks come out to play. I was asked earlier on what I like to throw the most in the fall. So here it is my list of top 4 baits to throw.
Super Model, BullDawg, Suick, Gooch Banana Bait
Source: Untold Fishing Adventures

  • 1- Suick- You can never go wrong with a suick at any time of year. If you can physically throw one I highly suggest it. Match your suick color with the bait fish and retrieve slower to mimic an injured fish.

  • 2-Bulldawg- These lures just catch fish. There are many colors and styles along with sizes for a person to choose from. If you are going to throw the Pounders, make sure that you have the right fishing rod to handle it. A slow retrieve with a pause is usually the best way to bring those big fish to hit.

  • Twitch Baits- These baits range from Crane baits, Big Game Twitch baits and Gliders. There are a lot of different one on the market. I like to throw some of the oldies like the Gooch Banana bait. It can be used as a surface or under water bait, these are hard baits to find as they haven't been produced in years. If I had any other choice it would be a Big Game Twitch bait. They mimic an injured fish and come in many different colors.

  • Double Blade Bucktails- There are many manufacturers of double blade bucktails these days. I say throw one that you can afford and match it with the hot color of the lake. Even if it is fall, the muskies will go after a bucktail. It is not bad to change your tactic and go shallow every once and a while.
Hope this bit of information helps you out in catching the big one. Let us know what favorite fall lure you like to throw. Good luck!

Other Fall Activities

Fall is a great time of year in my opinion. The temperatures get cooler, the fish start getting bigger and the deer start getting anxious. Unfortunately for us outdoor enthusiasts, most of these sports hit their peek during the same time. If you are like me and do multiple sports, it can be frustrating not having the time to set up an area to hunt.

Untold Fishing Adventures has an answer for you. We have partnered up with Klopp's Outfitters this fall season to bring more options for you. Klopp's Outfitters have multiple packages for hunting of different species that will suit your price range.  Why waste all your precious time looking for a place to hunt when Klopp's Outfitters can set it up for you. Check out their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Koutfitters and leave them a post on what you are interested in and book your trip for a fantastic hunt.

Weekend Muskie Fishing Update

After a long week of work and crazy traffic I finally hit the lake.  It was a very foggy morning so instead of rushing out there I decided to have another cup of coffee and wait for it to blow off. I know I could follow a track line to where I wanted to go but it doesn't show the other boats that may be out there. Better to be safe than sorry, the muskies will wait.

You couldn't ask for better conditions on the lake. The wind was out of the Southwest, 5-10mph and warm.  Water temperature was 66 degrees and we were finding some really nice green weeds.  After hours of casting multiple colors of bucktails and a few choice surface baits we didn't see anything.
Took a short break for lunch and went back out for the evening. After another 4 hours of casting multiple baits my partner and I only had one small northern hit.

Sunday morning didn't bring us much action either. We changed our tactics and went to deeper water and fished deeper breaklines and stumps. Needless to say we caught nothing but did find some new stumps as our baits seamed to find them. The good part of that is we have some new icons.

So the questions is-why did we not see anything?

My only deduction is that the muskies are in transition from a summer pattern to their fall feeding pattern. Usually at this time the fish lay somewhat dormant as they are looking for their food source and are getting ready to stock up for the winter. Their food source being crappies, are now starting to group and go into deeper water for their fall migration. This will make the muskies start to follow them and be more accessible on deeper shorelines and breaks.

Time to take your summer baits out of the box and get your fall ones ready! Which ones you ask? Tune in next week and I will give you some hot tips. (Hint- Get your Jerkbaits Ready!)

Baits used this weekend were the following:
Single and double blade bucktails- Green, orange, brass, and yellow
Bulldogs- walleye colored and black/green
Suicks- bumblebee, orange, walleye color
Surface baits- Globe, Stillwater, Roughrunner
